About the Translation of the Holy Quran in the Urdu Language
This is a new project that I have just started. The idea for the site came to me when talking to my daughter about an old Urdu Quran translation that I had in the form of a PDF in my collection of dawah documents. This led us to …
Mukaddimah; Introduction to the Noble Quran in the Urdu Language
By His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdul Lateef bin Abdul Aziz bin Abdur Rahman Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Supervisor of King Fahd Complex.
Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds, who said in his holy book: “قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ مِّنَ اللهِ نُور وكتب مبين” (There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear book), and prayers and peace be upon the best of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad said: “خيركم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه” (The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it).
And after this:
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, may God bless him and grant him peace, has given instructions regarding the service of the Divine Book, including the printing of the Holy Quran, its widespread distribution among the Muslim world, and its translation into various languages of the world. Special emphasis is placed on the publication of commentary.
In the eyes of the “Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Dawah and Guidance”, to pave the way for Muslims who do not know the Arabic language to understand the Quran and to be relieved of the responsibility of preaching that the Holy Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, (Convey from me to the people even if it is only one verse), it is very important to convey the demands of the Holy Quran in all the important languages of the world.
In view of this feeling of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, “King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran in Medina” is having the privilege of presenting this Urdu translation of the Holy Quran for the benefit of the Urdu readers.
This translation is by the pen of Maulana Muhammad Junagadhi and the commentary is written by Maulana Salahuddin Yusuf. Dr. Wasiullah bin Muhammad Abbas and Dr. Akhtar Jamal Luqman have done the revision work on behalf of the assembly.
We thank Allah Almighty for enabling us to complete this great work. We pray that Allah accept this service and make it beneficial for people.
It is an indisputable fact that any translation of the Holy Quran, no matter how meticulously done, will still be unable to do justice to the great forgiveness that is the Arabic meaning of this miraculous text. Also, the demands presented in the translation are actually the result of the translator’s understanding of the Quran. Therefore, like every human effort, in the translation of the Quran there is also the possibility of error and defect.
On this basis, we request the readers that if they see any omissions in this translation, they must inform the “King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran in Medina”, so that they can benefit from these omissions in the next publication.
والله الموفق وهو الهادي إلى سواء السبيل . اللهم تقبل منا إنك أنت السميع العليم
And Allah is the Guide to the straight path, and He is the One who grants success. O Allah, accept from us, indeed You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
